As with so many of today's successful production
companies, Pierce Sound, got it's start back in the mid seventies.
The founder, Ray Pierce, was a guitarist in local bands playing
the college and bar circuits. His first sound system was comprised
of a Peavey 1200 mixer, Shure SR106 cross overs, BGW amps and
Electro Voice Sentry 4 cabinets (four of them).
A local club, Fryfogles, needed a sound system
and technician for the blues acts they were presenting. The first
show as Pierce Sound, was Luther Allison. The following months
saw shows with Muddy Waters, James Cotton, Willie Dixon, Sonny
Terry and Brownie McGhee, Buddy Guy and many others.
Soon visiting acts were hiring Pierce Sound
to do their shows all around Ontario. Since the late 70’s
early 80’s Pierce Sound has been working mostly theatres
and arenas with many top name artists.
Live entertainment is still a large part of
Pierce Sound’s workload. Providing their technical savvy
for short regional tours with international acts and working on
an ever increasing bevy of summer festivals.
Pierce Sound has established itself as the
premier production company in it's region. The future looks very
bright indeed.
